Baird & MacGregor's Ribbon Cutting at Empire House in Riverside
Description: Baird MacGregor Insurance Brokers LP celebrated the facade revitalization of historic Empire House, 825 Queen Street East, in Riverside on October 19th.
Baird MacGregor, the Riverside BIA and the City of Toronto invited the community to the special ribbon-cutting ceremony at the over 100 year-old building. Philomena Comerford, CEO of Baird MacGregor, warmly welcomed everyone to the event and recognized the assistance and support from the Riverside BIA, Councillor Paula Fletcher, as well as the City of Toronto's Economic Development Office that provided a grant to help make the facade improvement possible.
Fresh new awnings and lighting have renewed the well-preserved century-old Empire House which the company has called home since 1988. The historic Empire House features a 1950's style diner and gym for employees, as well as a rich history of the many businesses that have occupied the building over the decades, including Slazengers Sporting Goods from 1925 to 1943, General Printing Ink from 1943 to 1973, Fairway Construction from 1978 to 1980, and Agincourt Productions, a VHS company, from 1983 to 1988.
Councillor Paula Fletcher, Ward 30 Toronto-Danforth, welcomed the restoration and applauded Baird & MacGregor's persistence and determination to revitalize the beautiful 2-story building. Mitch Korman, Chair of the Riverside BIA, applauded Baird & MacGregor's commitment to the Riverside neighbourhood, as well as their sponsorship of key community events.
